I never understood why people got so into them. When I first heard they were making a movie, I figured I'd never go see it. Why would I bother? Then I saw a preview, and my mind was made up. This movie looked cool. I went, even though I had heard that if you didn't know the books you wouldn't like it that much and that it was a whopping three hours long. I hate to go into movies expecting something great, because it usually doesn't happen. LOTR was an exception. This movie rocked. There was enough backstory for even someone with no LOTR experience to understand what was going on. The action sequences were awesome. The scope of the movie was massive. The amount of work put into it was amazing. I left thinking "I can't wait until next year for part 2" rather than "I can't believe I wasted three hours on this. I'm psyched for next year.
